As the sun began to retreat in the western sky, Ms. Shirley Ann (Johnson) Davis, age 88, peacefully departed this life on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at Piedmont Athens Regional Hospital in Athens, Georgia. Though her passing leaves a profound void in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her, we take comfort in knowing that Heaven has truly gained an angel. Her warmth, kindness, and enduring spirit will forever remain in the lives she touched.
Mrs. Shirley Ann Davis, age 88, peacefully entered eternal rest on February 21, 2026. Born on May 4, 1937, she lived a life that was a true testament of faith, love, strength, and dedicated service.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Hoke and Lola (Willingham) Johnson; her beloved husband, Gene Davis; her children, Randy Davis, Mitch Davis, and Evelyn Jackson; along with many other cherished family members.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: her devoted sons, Travis Davis and William (Dannette) Davis; her loving sisters, Gennell Maddie, Mamie Fairley, and Iris Browning; and her special lifelong friend — her “Road Dog,” Mrs. Rochelle Perrin. Mrs. Davis was blessed with 21 grandchildren, 53 great-grandchildren, and 9 great-great-grandchildren. Though space does not permit listing each by name, she loved every one of them dearly and took great pride in her large and beautiful legacy. She shared a particularly special bond with Jalisa Allen, Khalilah (Greg) Harris, Meshi Jackson, Robert Bradley Jr. Hope Wilkins (Vincent), Faith Allen and Tamekia Allen along with countless others whose lives she touched.
At an early age, Shirley dedicated her life to the Lord and remained a faithful and active member of Forston Grove for over 70 years. She served faithfully on the usher board for 46 years, taking her role seriously and proudly. So devoted was she to her service that she often expressed her desire to spend eternity dressed in her usher’s attire.
Her life reflected unwavering faith, steadfast love for her family, and a heart committed to serving others. She leaves behind a legacy of devotion, resilience, and grace that will continue to inspire all who knew and loved her.
